Matthew Diamond is a film composer, orchestrator, and producer hailing from Great Barrington, Massachusetts.

Matthew’s love of film music is rooted in his love of story. He is fascinated by the unique ability of music to deepen an audience’s connection to and understanding of a story. His greatest strength as a composer is empathy: taking the time to understand characters, setting, and the emotional world of a project before deciding how music can support and deepen the audience’s experience of it. His technical background in engineering has shaped his approach to composition, giving him an analytical eye for detail and a natural curiosity to research and understand the worlds of the stories he scores. Musically, he is drawn to the timeless expression of the orchestra, as well as the possibilities of hybrid and electronic sound.

Matthew has studied screen scoring at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena, Italy, where he worked with composers and musicians from around the world and had his music performed and recorded by the Orchestra Regionale Toscana.

Matthew received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with an additional major in Music, Sound, and Culture from Tufts University. He is currently pursuing a Master of Music in Screen Scoring at the USC Thornton School of Music.
